Young People!!!!

“Young people can help to awaken us out of our slumber in the faith. … The important thing is … that we begin a serious commitment to prayer.”

I am so thankful and happy that I was able to come to World Youth Day in Sydney. I must admit that, at first, it did seem a bit daunting to travel all the way to Australia for the events. However, being here, I am reminded of the youthfulness and vitality of the Church, especially manifested in the young, but present in all of us. The Church is ever young.

We can believe in the beautiful truths of our faith, but sometimes they lie dormant within us. World Youth Day reminds us that the Gospel resonates in our hearts as freshly today as it did in the hearts of those who heard the Sermon on the Mount two thousand years ago. The Words of Jesus lead us to faith in Him, and to conversion of heart. Why else would over half a million gather in Australia for the closing Mass of WYD?

Pope Benedict told the young people, “She [the Church] needs your faith, your idealism and your generosity, so that she can always be young in the Spirit.”

All the members of the Church have gifts that the Church needs. All have a role and a part to play. Young people can help to awaken us out of our slumber in the faith.

Remember our generosity in the beginning. Maybe we had a conversion experience, maybe a particular moment when we felt close to the Lord, and we responded and gave ourselves to Him without measure. Then, after a while, something grew cold within us. But, as a Cardinal Pell put it the other day, “there are embers in the ashes.”

WYD reminds us of the fullness of the Church and the gifts that the young possess. It is staggering to see such a gathering of people joined in faith and charity. Tonight, I spoke with an elderly woman who said that WYD has been good for Sydney itself. She said that the smiles of the young people have blessed the city. There is a wonderful atmosphere here of friendship and warmth.

The closing Mass was beautiful. There were pauses in the Mass for silent meditation, and it was astonishing to see the entire place in silence. After the homily and after communion, a period of silence was announced to foster prayer.

Pope Benedict said in his homily, “In the power of His Spirit, Jesus is always present in our hearts, quietly waiting for us to be still with Him, to hear His voice, to abide in His love, and to receive ‘power from on high,’ enabling us to be salt and light for our world.”

Pope Benedict mentioned a “quiet sense of despair” in many societies today. Communion with God is a way to combat this despair. The Holy Father recommends quiet prayer, prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, and liturgical prayer.

The important thing is not so much the kind of prayer we choose, but that we begin a serious commitment to prayer. God wants to work an interior transformation in our lives and radiate His goodness to the world around us.

Editor’s Note: Father Mark will write one more World Youth Day 2008 blog about some of the more interesting moments at this celebration of faith in Sydney, Australia.

perpaduan

perpaduan Yang Sejati
ibarat cahaya terang gemilang
tanpanya gelaplah dunia
seluruh manusia menderita
adakah indah jika dunia
tidak mempunyai cahaya perpaduan

Cho:
mengapa harus menyimpan rasa benci
jika tdak membawa kebaikan pada diri
hancur manusia kerana ketandusan akhlak
kerana tidak bersatu hati

Jika perpaduan hilang di dunia
kita di ciptakan tuhan untuk apa
tidakkah kita mahu memikir kannya
tepuk dadah tanyalah selera
adakah indah jika dunia
tidak mempunyai warna perpaduan

Singapore bans two porn website in symbolic move

Singapore (ANTARA News/Reuters) - Singapore has banned access to two pornographic websites in a "symbolic statement" of the country's societal values, its media regulator said on Friday.

The two sites, which the regulator declined to identify but local media named as YouPorn and RedTube, work in a similar fashion to popular video-sharing website YouTube. The two Web sites allow users to add and download sex videos.

"It should be noted that the hardcore pornographic videos posted on these sites are very easily accessible by the young as each video will start streaming for free once a user clicks on the related link," said Jason Hoong, an official from the Media Development Authority (MDA).

The sites, which were banned after the authorities received feedback from the public, are the latest additions to a list of 100 "mass impact objectionable" pornographic websites banned in Singapore.

Singapore, which disallows the possession, distribution and making of pornographic films, defends its action as necessary to protect the young.

Online responses to a local media report on the ban have been unfavourable, with users condemning it as unnecessarily moralistic.

"I will definitely surf the Internet by proxy from now on, to be defiant so as to preserve my rights," wrote one user.

Can A Family Man With Salary RM3,000 Survive In Malaysia?

Can a family man with SalaryRM3,000 survive in Malaysia?
Let's do some simple calculations here.

In Malaysia, the average family income isRM3,000 /month
(where father works, mother doesn't).

I understand there are many families whose
monthly income does not reach RM3,000,
but, to make things simple,
let's take RM3,000as the figure. Ok lah, right?

Okay, let's start rolling with a family which has
Papa, Mama, 1 daughter and 1 son. Ngam-ngam ....

Calculation starts... lohgi.blogspot.com

Electricity and water bill: RM100
(No air-con, No home theatre, No water heater ... ok?)

Phone bill ( Telekom): RM100

Meals for a happy family: RM775
(3 meals on RM25/day, RM25 for 4 persons...?)

Papa makan / teh-tarik during working hrs: RM155
(RM5/day, RM5 ... can eat what?)

Car repayment: RM400
(A proton saga aeroback, 7 yrs repayment)

Petrol (living in city, traffic-jam):RM300
(go to work, bring son to school,
only can afford one car running)

Insurance: RM650

(myself)

House repayment: RM750
(low cost housing repayment for 30 yrs,
retired still have to work to pay!)

Tuition: RM80
(got that cheap meh? i don't think so)

Older children pocket money @ school: RM20
(RM1/day, eat bread?)

School fees: RM30
(enough ah?)

School books and etc: RM100
(always got extra to pay in school)

Younger children milk powder: RM50
(cannot have the DHA, BHA, PHA one, expensive)

Miscellaneous: RM100
(shampoo, rice, sauce and others)

Oh wait!!! I have to stop here, so...
No Astro,
no movie @ cinema,
no DVD,
no CD,
no online,
cannot KFC,
cannot McDonald,
cannot go Park walk during weekend (petrol expensive),
no chit chat on phone with grandparents, and etc...

Let's use a calculator to total up... WALAO EH! Shit!RM3,610 already...

EPF belum potong, income tax lagi........oledi RM3,610 ....

How to survive lah tuan-tuan dan puan-puan sekalian ???

Our Deputy Prime Minister asked us to change lifestyle?

How to change? Don't eat? Don't work? Don't send children to school and study?
Besides that, I believe in Malaysia population, there are millions of rakyat Malaysia which still don't earn RM3,000/month!!!
What is this? Inilah Malaysia Boleh...Sorry... it should beMalaysians Boleh, because we're still alive and kicking!! malaysia bogel, melayu telanjang, seks, 3gp cikgu

Our politicians must be mad!!!!

Please forward and comment boleh or tak boleh. No wonder so many Ah Loong around lah....

beloved Judas

I feel now
As you felt that night
In Gethsemene
When Judas kissed thy cheek
Now I understand
How one you love
Could harm you so much more than ever your enemy
Tears stream down my face
In painful understanding
How it hurts to see the face
Of beloved Judas
I see him every night
And every day
When all is standing still
The days are beautiful
And the nights reveal more
Than I ever wished to know about myself
I wonder
Did you ever regret
Beloved Judas

O beloved Judas!
My heart
It weeps with pain
Pain and understanding
That maybe this was all a game
That I was nothing more than a momentary plaything
And when I got lost you did not search for me
Nor did you mourn my loss
Sweet beloved Judas
My heart still beats your name
The very same

Dear Sweet Jesus
Hold me in thy arms
Never let me go
My sweet Savior
Save me from this pain
Show me all thy scars
Of wounds inflicted
By beloved Judas

Why dost thou weep, my child?
I hold thee in my hand
No man can snatch thee
For I command the earth to do my bidding
I AM Messiah and Savior
Rabbi and Son Of Man
I still love beloved Judas
And have forgiven all of man

My beloved Judas
What pain I feel
When I utter your name
Why just a plaything?
Why just a name?
I hoped for more than just a wish
I prayed for more than all of this
And now instead of joy
You gave me crisis
My beloved Judas
